About Kris Boyd

One of the all-time highest scorers in the Scottish Premier League, played for the MLS's Portland Timbers in 2012.

Kris Boyd is a former Scottish professional footballer who played as a striker. Boyd grew up in the village of Tarbolton South Ayrshire and began his long career with Kilmarnock. He joined the Rangers in January 2006 and is their top scorer in each of his seasons at Ibrox. He is the top scorer in Scottish Premier League history with a total of 167 goals. Boyd spent a brief stint in English football with Middlesbrough, during which time he was loaned to Nottingham Forest. He signed for Turkish club Eskişehirspor in 2011, but ended his contract after five months and joined Portland Timbers from Major League Soccer in January 2012. He then returned to Kilmarnock and Rangers. After appearing in several matches for Scotland and Scotland B U21s, Boyd made his debut for the Scotland Senior National Team in 2006. He has scored seven goals in eighteen appearances for Senior National Team for four years.
