Matthew Edward Gonzalez is an American politician, lawyer and activist. He served on the San Francisco Supervisory Board between 2001 and 2005 and was its chairman. In 2003, Gonzalez, a candidate for the Green Party, failed in a close race against the mayor of San Francisco against Democrat Gavin Newsom. In the 2008 presidential election, Gonzalez ran for vice president as candidate Ralph Nader. Since 2020, he serves as the chief prosecutor at the San Francisco Office of Public Protection.
