Her mother is an actress, director and writer, and her father is a composer. He has a younger brother, Leonard. Altaras attended Heinz Galinski Elementary School in Berlin. While studying at Heinz-Galinski, he was discovered by a cast team for the movie Mogelpackung Mann. In 2006, he started attending the Jüdische Oberschule Berlin gym.
