Martial artist who, in 2010, became the first British male to reach the top of the world taekwondo rankings. Despite his accomplishments, he was left off the British Olympic squad in 2012, and as a result, he obtained Moldovan citizenship in order to represent the country.
Aaron Arthur Cook is a British Moldovan taekwondo athlete who has been ranked number one in the men's 80 pound weight class on several occasions. He is a three-time European champion who won the -80kg category title at the 2010 European Taekwondo Championship, 2012 representing the UK and 2014 representing the Isle of Man, and a young world champion to -78 kg in 2008. He represented the UK at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, where he reached the semi-finals and was narrowly defeated in a bronze medal match. He was controversial when he was knocked out from England to attend the London 2012 Olympics when he was world number one. The 1st class competitor weighed -80 kg when the British Taekwondo Board selected Lutalo Muhammad. After that, Cook said he was no longer able to work with UK regulators and changed his loyalty to the Isle of Man.
