Anthony James "A. J. " Allmendinger is an American professional racer and television commentator, working as an analyst for IMSA on NBC and NASCAR America. He also competed for the NASCAR Xfinity and Cup Series for Kaulig Racing, driving his 16 Chevrolet Camaro full-time in the previous one and part-time in the next. Allmendinger's professional racing career began in American open wheel racing. He won five victories and finished third in the 2006 Champ Car season. Allmendinger then started playing at NASCAR for the Red Bull team. He then drove for Richard Petty Motorsports, Penske Racing, Phoenix Racing and JTG Daugherty Racing in the Cup Series. In 2019, he switched to a part-time schedule with Kaulig in the Xfinity series. Additionally, he has participated in the 24 Hours of Daytona for Michael Shank's team annually since 2006, winning the event in 2012.
