Mendez began his professional wrestling career in 2007 in the New Jersey independent ring. She signed with WWE in 2009 and spent two years in its development arm, Florida Championship Wrestling, before being promoted to the main team. In 2012, she rose to prominence for her "mentally unstable" storylines, such as her high profile connections and three months as Managing Director of Raw. Over the next few years, she won the all-time Divas championship three times and held the title with an all-time high of 406 days.
