Arthur Joseph Rafael, known as AJ Rafael, is an American singer and songwriter, YouTuber and TikToker. Born in Moreno Valley, California, he graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2010. Rafael opened a Myspace account in 2003 and posted a song he wrote to a girl he met on the internet. He also posted a Meg & Dia concert that attracted the group's attention and received 30,000 views. He appeared in American Idol Season 4 and was eliminated. In 2006, he posted his first video on YouTube, which is an exchange between Meg & Dia. In 2010, Rafael released an expansionist piece called Juicebox. Early the next year, it appeared on Billboard's recently created "Uncharted" chart. He released his debut album Red Roses in 2011 and toured Southeast Asia and Australia to promote it. Rafael paused indefinitely touring in 2014 after struggling for a seat at his concerts when he had half a million YouTube subscribers and millions of video views.
