Olympic slalom skier who won gold at the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver's Super-G event.
Aksel Lund Svindal is a former Norwegian World Cup ski racer. Born in Lørenskog in Akershus County, Svindal was a two-time World Cup overall winner, Olympic gold medalist in Super G at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games and in downhill at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games. Five times the enemy of the world in downhill, giant slalom, and super mix. With a victory in the downhill race in 2013, Svindal became the first male alpine rider to win a title in four consecutive world championships. With his successes, many consider him the best Norwegian alpine snowboarder of all time. While great Kjetil Andre Aamodt has had more success at the Olympics, Svindal are by far the most successful team of their World Cup run. At the end of January 2019, he announced his retirement from alpine skiing after the 2019 World Ski Championships.
