Alastair Ian Stewart is a Scottish folk singer, songwriter and rock musician who emerged as part of the British folk revival in the 1960s and 1970s. Fuse folk-rock songs with subtly woven stories of characters and events historical. Stewart is best known for his 1976 single "Year of the Cat", on the platinum album of the same name. Although Year of the Cat and subsequent Time Passages reached platinum in 1978 gave Stewart the greatest commercial success in the world, previous albums such as Past, Present and Future of 1973 are often considered better examples of his historic folk mark, a style he returned to in subsequent albums. Stewart is a key figure in British music and he appears in all Renaissance folk music.
