Aleksander Reed Skarlatos is a former US Army National Guard soldier, along with his fellow Americans Spencer Stone and Anthony Sadler, an Englishman, a Frenchman and an American, intercepted a gunman on the train traveling from Paris to Brussels in August 2015. US President Barack Obama's US Army Soldier's Medal. All six, reserved for French passengers wishing to remain anonymous, received the highest garniture in France, the Knight of the Legion of Honor, from the hands of French President François Hollande. Americans also received medals from the city of Arras, France. Skarlatos was invited to participate in season 21 of ABC's Dancing with the Stars program with professional dancer Lindsay Arnold as a partner. They finished third. Skarlatos, along with his friends, portrayed themselves in the film 15:17 in Paris, based on their autobiography with Jeffrey E. Come back.
