Alex Ramos is a former mid-range boxer of the 1980s. Originally from Manhattan, New York, to Puerto Rican parents, Ramos won four Golden Gloves titles in New York City at the end of the year. 1970 and was part of the American boxing team from 1978 to 1980. Ramos was nicknamed "Bronx Bomber" after Joe Louis, who was nicknamed "Brown Bomber" . Ramos turned professional after his amateur career was suddenly cut off by President Jimmy Carter's decision to boycott the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow due to Russia's invasion of Afghanistan. Up professional, Ramos is the first professional boxer led by Shelly Finkel. Alex Ramos went on to win the USBA Medium title of the International Boxing League by beating Curtis Parker in 1984. After his retirement, Ramos was a victim of alcohol and drug abuse and lived on the streets, which ultimately ended up being leads Ramos to enter rehab. He then founded the Retired Martial Arts Association with the help of Jacquie Richardson.
