Shah is most known for serving as the head of India's Bharatiya Janata Party and as a longstanding member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly.

Amit Shah is an Indian politician who currently serves as Minister of the Interior. He was president of the Bharatiya Janata Party from 2014 to 2020. He was elected to the lower house of parliament, Lok Sabha, in India's 2019 general election in Gandhinagar. Previously, he was elected Senate member Rajya Sabha of Gujarat in 2017. Oath of office at the age of 54, he is the youngest interior minister to serve full time. He is the chief strategist of the BJP and a close associate of Narendra Modi. During his years at university, Shah was a member of ABVP, the student group of RSS. At the age of 18 he held a post in the ABVP and joined the BJP in 1987. The Shah was first elected in Gujarat as a deputy for a president including Ahmedabad, Sarkhej in 1997. He continued to occupy it. 1998, 2002 and 2007 elections until seats are dissolved in 2008; he was then elected from nearby Naranpura in 2012
