José Andrés Guardado Hernández is a Mexican professional footballer playing for La Liga club Real Betis and captain of the Mexican national team. Essentially a midfielder, he can also play the role of left winger or left-back. Better known as Principito, he went through youth levels at Atlas, then signed with Spaniard Deportivo, where he spent 5 seasons. In 2012, he joined another team in the country, Valencia, on short-term loan to Bayer Leverkusen and PSV, before finally joining the latter club in 2015 and winning two Eredivisie titles. He returned to Spain two years later with Real Betis, where he made over 100 appearances. As a Mexico international since 2005, Guardado has represented the country at four World Cups, four Gold Cups - winning tournaments in 2011, 2015 and 2019 - two Copa Americas and two League Cups, winning over 160 time.
