About Andy Serkis

He is well recognized for playing Gollum in the Lord of the Rings movies. In the Planet of the Apes trilogy, he was also praised for his portrayal of the ape Caesar. He also appears in Marvel's breakthrough picture Black Panther and played the titular character in filmmaker Peter Jackson's King Kong. In 2018, he directed and featured in the film Mowgli.

Andrew Clement Serkis is an English actor, director and producer. Best known for his work in performance capture, animation, and voice acting, Serkis is the recipient of numerous accolades, and is one of the highest-grossing actors of all time. After acting in several minor roles primarily on British film and television, Serkis achieved fame after he played Gollum in The Lord of the Rings film franchise. He then starred in the comedy 13 Going on 30 and portrayed the titular character in King Kong. Serkis then appeared in a range of genres, including the thriller The Prestige and the animated comedy Flushed Away, and portrayed serial killer Ian Brady in Longford and musician and actor Ian Dury in Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, for which he received a BAFTA Award nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role.

In 2002, he married Lorraine Ashbourne. His mother Ruislip was a special education teacher, and his father Clement was a gynaecologist. He has two sons, Louis and Sonny, as well as a daughter, Ruby.
