She is considered one of the most famous female singers for romantic ballads, rising during the silent storms of contemporary R&B in the 1980s. She began her career in the late 1970s with the group. Funk Chapter 8, Baker released his first solo album, The Singer, in 1983. In 1986, she became a star after releasing her second best-selling platinum album, Rapture, which featured the Grammy-winning single "Sweet Love". In 2017, Baker won eight Grammy Awards and has five platinum albums and one gold album.
