He is most known for playing the brilliant serial killer Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs, for which he earned an Academy Award for Best Actor. He's also appeared in films such as The Mask of Zorro, Nixon, and Thor. After winning a prominent role on HBO's Westworld in 2016, he moved to television.
Sir Philip Anthony Hopkins is a Welsh actor, director and film producer. He has received many awards, including two Academy Awards, four BAFTA Awards, two Emmy Awards, and the Cecil B Prize. DeMille Awards and British Academy Television Awards. In 1993, he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for his work in the arts. Hopkins received a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2003 and the BAFTA Fellowship for Lifetime Achievement from the British Academy of Film and Television in 2008. After graduating from the University of Music & Drama Royal of Wales in 1957, Hopkins was trained in the Royal Family. The Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, and was later discovered by Laurence Olivier, who invited him to join the Royal National Theater in 1965. Works at the National include King Lear, his favorite play. Shakespeare's grandfather. His last play was a West End play produced by Mr. Butterfly in 1989. In 1968, Hopkins was recognized in film, as Richard the Lionheart in The Lion in Winter.
