Anupam Kher is an Indian actor and former president of the Indian Institute of Film and Television. He is the recipient of two National Cinema Awards and eight Filmfare Awards. He has appeared in more than 500 films, mostly in Hindi and in numerous plays. He won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor for his performance in Saaransh. He holds a record 5 times to win the Best Actor Award for: Ram Lakhan, Lamhe, Khel, Darr and Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. He has twice won the National Film Award for Special Attention for his performances in Daddy and Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara. For his performance in the movie Vijay, he won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor. In addition to filming in Hindi, he has also appeared in international films such as Golden Globe candidates Bend It Like Beckham, Lust, Caution and David O. An Oscar winning Russell's Silver Linings playbook.
