Arda Turan is a professional Turkish footballer who currently serves as an attacking midfielder for the Galatasaray club. Turan is best known for his ability to control the ball, dribble, and vision. At the age of 21, before the 2009-10 season, he was appointed captain of the Galatasaray. After a successful UEFA Euro 2008 campaign, Turan is ranked eighth in the top 100 youth football world poll published by Spanish magazine Don Balón in July 2008. Turan is ranked 38th. In the Guardian's "Top 100 soccer players World Cup 2014", the only player on the list was born in Turkey. On 25 November 2014, Turan was nominated for UEFA's Team of the Year 2014, among 39 other players. Turan has 100 national caps and 17 goals for the Turkish national team, making him the fifth-most international international player of all time in Turkey.
