Arlo Davy Guthrie is a retired American folk singer and songwriter. He is known for singing songs that protest against social injustice and telling stories while performing songs, in the tradition of his father Woody Guthrie. Guthrie's most famous work was his debut, "Alice's Restaurant Massacree", a sarcastic blues song lasting about 18 minutes, which later became a Thanksgiving song. The only success in his top 40 was a cover of Steve Goodman's “City of New Orleans”. His song "Massachusetts" is named the official folk song of the state in which he lived most of his adult life. Guthrie has also made a few acting appearances. He is the father of four children, who have also followed the career of musician.
