Arturo Sandoval was a jazz trumpeter, pianist, and composer whose life was adapted into a television film in 2000 called For Love or Country: The Arturo Sandoval Story.

Arturo Sandoval is a Cuban-American pianist, pianist and composer of jazz. While living in his native Cuba, Sandoval was influenced by jazz musicians Charlie Parker, Clifford Brown, and Dizzy Gillespie. In 1977, he met Gillespie, who became his friend and mentor and helped him flee Cuba during a tour with the United Nations Orchestra. Sandoval naturalized in the United States in 1998. His life was the subject of the movie For Love or Country: The Story of Arturo Sandoval with Andy García. Sandoval has won a Grammy, a Billboard and an Emmy Award. He performed at the White House and Super Bowl.
