President of Pakistan from 2008 to 2013, he was the country's first democratically elected president to serve a full five-year term. When his wife, Benazir Bhutto, became Prime Minister of Pakistan in 1993, he was also the First Gentleman of Pakistan.

Asif Ali Zardari is a Pakistani politician who is the Chairman of the MP for the Pakistan People's Party and Co-Chair of the Pakistan People's Party. He was Pakistan's 11th president from 2008 to 2013, the first post-zoning president. He has been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan since August 2018. Son of Hakim Ali Zardari, landowner from Sindh, Zardari rose to fame after his marriage to Benazir Bhutto in 1987, who became Prime Minister of Pakistan after his election in 1988. When Bhutto's government was removed from office by President Ghulam Ishaq Khan in 1990 Zardari was widely criticized for his involvement in the corruption scandals that led to his demise. When Bhutto was re-elected in 1993, Zardari served as Federal Minister of Investment and Chairman of the Pakistan Environmental Protection Council. After growing tensions between Bhutto's brother Murtaza and Zardari, Murtaza was killed during a meeting with the police in Karachi on September 20, 1996
