Little Big Shots, The Steve Harvey Show, World of Dance, and So You Think You Can Dance have all included dancers. In 2015, she was named Mini Best Dancer at The Dance Awards, and in 2017, she was named Junior Best Dancer. In 2017, she won the gold medal in the YAGP Finals.

Avery Gay before fame

At the age of four, she began training in several types of dance and performing for Centrestage Dance Studio in Scottsdale, Arizona. At age seven, she began taking ballet technique very seriously and by age nine, she was training more than 30 hours a week in just ballet at Master Ballet Academy. She began dancing in The Nutcracker when she was eight years old.
