German midfielder who joined Bayern Munich in 2002 and represented Germany at the 2004 World Cup. He was named Footballer of the Year in Germany in 2013 and helped Germany finish in third place in both the 2006 and 2010 World Cups, before leading the team to a title at the 2014 World Cup.
Bastian Schweinsteiger is a former German professional footballer who often plays in central midfield. Earlier in his career, he mainly played in a wide midfield position. Schweinsteiger is considered one of the greatest midfielders of all time, because of his ability to recognize tactics, choose positions, pass the ball, tackle the ball and also because of his ability to read and control the game. German coach Joachim Löw has called Schweinsteiger one of the greatest players Germany has ever produced. He spent 17 seasons at Bayern Munich, played 500 matches in all competitions and scored 68 goals.
