John's, Master's and PhD in American History from Yale University. He teaches at the University of Texas and is Assistant Secretary of the US Department of Health and Human Services. In 2010, he was named the 15th rector of the University of Midland in Fremont, Nebraska. In 2014, he ran for an empty seat in the United States Senate, defeating Democratic candidate David Domina, 65% to 31%. In 2020, Sasse was re-elected for a second term.
