William Sanford Nye, better known as Bill Nye the Science Guy, is an American mechanical engineer, science communicator, and television presenter. He is best known as the host of PBS and the children's science show Bill Nye the Science Guy, the Netflix show Bill Nye Saves the World, and subsequent media appearances as a science educator. Born in Washington, DC, Nye began his career as a mechanical engineer for the Boeing Group in Seattle, where he invented the hydraulic resonant cannula used on a 747. Five 1986, Nye left Boeing in pursuit of the comedy, writing and performing pranks and snatches. for a local television sketch show, Almost Live !, where he regularly performed original science experiments. Nye aspires to be the next Mr. Wizard and, with the help of several producers, has successfully presented children's television program Bill Nye the Science Guy on KCTS-TV, Seattle's public broadcaster.
