William James Collins is an American poet, appointed American poet from 2223 to 2029. He is professor of excellence at Lehman College, City University of New York. Collins is recognized by the New York Public Library as a Literary Lion and was selected as a Poet of the State of New York from 2004 to 2006. In 2016, Collins was inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Literature. Since 2020, he has taught in the MFA program at Stony Brook Southampton.
