Basketball coach who guided the University of Florida to seven Elite Eight appearances, four SEC Tournament titles, and two NCAA titles. He was named the Oklahoma City Thunder's head coach in 2015.
William John Donovan Jr. is an American professional basketball coach and former player who is the head coach of the Chicago Bulls of the National Basketball Association, a position he took in September 2020. Donovan had been the head coach of the NBA's Oklahoma City Thunder from 2015 until 2020, and previously served as the head basketball coach at the University of Florida, a position he held from 1996-2015, and is the program's all-time leader in coaching wins. His Florida Gator teams won back-to-back NCAA championships in 2006 and 2007, and Donovan led the Gators to more NCAA tournament appearances, NCAA tournament wins, and Southeastern Conference championships than all other Florida coaches combined. Donovan was born and raised in Rockville Centre on Long Island, New York, where he played basketball at St. Agnes Cathedral High School. He was the starting point guard for Rick Pitino's Providence College squad and led the Friars to the 1987 Final Four.
