Jay Dee "B.J." Penn III is an American mixed martial artist and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner. Penn competed in the Ultimate Fighting Championship and K-1. Penn was the winner of the first US Jiu-Jitsu World Championship gold medal. In mixed martial arts, Penn competes in the feathers, light weight, medium and medium weight classes. A former UFC lightweight champion and UFC welterweight champion, he is the second of seven boxers in UFC history to win a title in multiple weight classes. Penn fought to hold the Caol Uno tie in the 41st UFC lightweight tournament. In 2015, Penn became the first introduction to the modern era wing of the UFC Hall of Fame.
