Founded as the "Black Panther for Self-Defense", the main activity of the Party was to oversee police operations and challenge police brutality in black communities, primarily in Oakland, California, and later in the cities of the United States. United States. Seale was one of the Chicago Eight accused by the US federal government of conspiracy in connection with the anti-Vietnam War protests in Chicago, Ill.
