Brandi Denise Chastain is a retired American footballer, two-time FIFA Women's World Cup winner, two-time Olympic gold medalist, coach and sports announcer. She played for the United States National Team from 1988 to 2004. In 192 appearances for the team, she scored 30 goals while playing primarily in defensive and midfielder roles. She scored a goal in the World Championship penalty shootout against China in the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup final. Chastain played professionally for Shiroki FC in the Japan Women's Football Championship, San Jose CyberRays of the United Women's Football Association, the Golden Pride of the FC Professional Women's Football League and the California Storm Women's Premier League. Chastain was named USWNT's Player of All Time in 2013. In March 2017, she was inducted into the National Football Fame Hall of Fame. In 2018, she was inducted into the Gulf Sports Hall of Fame.
