Brandon Sanderson is an American science fiction and fantasy epic author. He is best known for the Cosmere fictional universe in which most of his fiction takes place, including the Mistborn series and The Stormlight Archive. He is also known for completing Robert Jordan's high-end fantasy series, The Wheel of Time. He created Sanderson's laws of magic and popularized the term "soft and hard magic system." In 2008, Sanderson launched a podcast with author Dan Wells and host Howard Tayler titled Writing the Advocacy, covering topics on genre creation and webcomics. In 2016, US media company DMG Entertainment licensed the film to Sanderson's entire Cosmere universe.
