Brandon Scott is an American politician who has been the mayor of Baltimore, Maryland since 2020. He is a past chairman of the Baltimore City Council and candidate for governor of Maryland in 2018, and represents Baltimore's second district. On May 6, 2019, Scott was elected to replace Jack Young as chairman of the board after Young succeeded Mayor Catherine Pugh. In September 2019, Scott announced his run for mayor and won the Democratic primary election in June 2020. Scott won the general election on November 3 and took office. December 8, 2020
