Bryan Jay Singer is an American director, producer and screenwriter. He's the founder of Bad Hat Harry Productions and has produced or co-produced nearly all of the films he has made. After graduating from the University of Southern California, Singer directed his first short film, Lion's Den. Based on this film, he received funding for his next film, Public Access, which co-won the Grand Jury Prize at the 1993 Sundance Film Festival. In the mid-1990s, Singer won critics. comments appreciated for directing new noir crime thriller The Usual Suspects. He continued that with another horror film, Apt Pupil, an adaptation of a Stephen King novel about a boy's passion for a Nazi war criminal. During the 2000s, he became famous for big budget superhero movies like X-Men, for which Singer won the 2000 Saturn Award for Best Director, his sequel being X2 and Superman Returns.
