From 1953 to 1958, he was married to Paula Stewart, and from 1965 to 1980, he was married to Angie Dickinson. In 1982, he married his third wife, lyricist Carole Bayer Sager, and the couple divorced in 1991. In 1993, he married his fourth wife, Jane Hansen. He has two daughters, Lea and Raleigh, as well as two boys, Christopher and Oliver.
