After retiring from the NBA, he became a head coach for the Los Angeles Lakers during their historic 'Showtime' era. From 2000 to 2004, he coached the New Jersey Nets, then the New Orleans Hornets and Cleveland Cavaliers until taking over as head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers in 2014.

Byron Antom Scott is a former American professional basketball coach and player. The last time he coached for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association. As a player, Scott won three NBA Championships with the Lakers during their Showtime era in the 1980s
