Carl Bernstein is an American journalist and investigative author. As a young reporter for the Washington Post in 1972, Bernstein was associated with Bob Woodward; Both did most of the original reporting on the Watergate scandal. These scandals led to numerous government inquiries and ultimately to the resignation of President Richard Nixon. Woodward and Bernstein's work has been called "possibly the greatest reporting effort of all time" by longtime journalist Gene Roberts. Bernstein's career since Watergate has continued to focus on the subject of the use and abuse of power through books and magazine articles. He has also produced television reports and opinion pieces. He is the author or co-author of six books: All Men of the President, The Last Days and The Man of Secrets, with Bob Woodward; Monsignor: John Paul II and The History of Our Time, with Marco Politi; Loyal clients; and A Woman in Charge: The Life of Hillary Rodham Clinton.
