Former President John F. Kennedy's daughter and co-founder of the Profiles in Courage Awards, a private prize given to celebrate acts of courage such as those chronicled in her father's book Profiles in Courage. She was nominated to be the United States' ambassador to Japan in 2013.

Caroline Bouvier Kennedy is an American author, lawyer and diplomat who served as the US Ambassador to Japan from 2013 to 2017. She is a member of the Kennedy family and the only living child of President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy. Kennedy was five days behind his sixth birthday when his father was assassinated on November 22, 1963. The following year, Caroline, her mother, and her brother John F. Kennedy Jr. moved to the Upper East Side of Manhattan, where she followed the apprenticeship. . Kennedy graduated from Radcliffe College and worked at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan, where she met her future husband, exhibition designer Edwin Schlossberg. She later received a J.D. from Columbia Law School. Much of Kennedy's professional life included law and politics, as well as educational reform and philanthropy. She also serves as the spokesperson for her family's legacy and has co-authored two books with Ellen Aldermanon on civil liberties.
