Carrie Rachel Brownstein is an American musician, actress, writer, director and comedian. She first rose to fame as a member of the group Excuse 17 before forming the rock trio Sleater-Kinney. During a long hiatus from Sleater-Kinney, she formed the group Wild Flag. During this time period, Brownstein wrote and appeared in a comedy sketch series alongside Fred Armisen, which was developed in the Portlandia comedy series. The film won the Emmy Awards and the Peabody Awards. Sleater-Kinney is finally reunited; in 2015, Brownstein toured with the group and supported their new memories.
