Catherine Anne O'Hara is a Canadian-American actress, comedian and writer. She has received a number of awards, including a Genie award, a Golden Globe, a Screen Actors Guild award, two Primetime Emmy Awards and five Canadian Screen Awards. She was appointed Officer of Order of Canada in 2018 and received the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Governor-General for the Performing Arts in 2020. O'Hara first became famous as an actress in 1974 as a member of the Toronto-based improvised comedy troupe The Second City. She had her first major television role with John Candy and Dan Aykroyd in the main cast of sitcom Coming Up Rosie. The following year, O'Hara and Candy began working on Second City Television's sketch comedy series, where she received critical acclaim as an actress and comedian. Humor, won the Primetime Emmy Award for best work for a TV series in 1981.
