Chael Patrick Sonnen is a retired American athlete, mixed martial arts analyst and mixed martial artist. Starting his MMA career in 1997, Sonnen competed for the UFC, where he became the top contender in light and middleweight and challenged both UFC Light Heavyweight and UFC Middleweight. Sonnen has also participated in the WEC, Pancrase, and most recently the Bellator MMA. He has had notable victories against many former world champions such as Maurício Rua, Paulo Filho, Michael Bisping, Nate Marquardt, Wanderlei Silva and Quinton Jackson. Sonnen is often regarded as one of the greatest mixed martial arts fighters of all time, having never won the UFC championship. In 2014, Sonnen started working as an MMA analyst for ESPN and two years later, in July 2016, founded Submission Underground, a wrestling promotion program performed by himself. He is considered by many to be one of the most talkative in MMA history.
