Christopher Adam Daughtry is an American singer, songwriter and actor. He's the singer and rhythm guitarist for the rock band Daughtry, which he formed after finishing fourth in the fifth season of American Idol. Released by RCA Records, Daughtry's debut album titled Daughtry became the first best-selling rock album in Nielsen SoundScan history, selling more than a million copies within five weeks of its release. The album was recorded prior to the band's official establishment, making him the only official member on the album. In its ninth week of release, Daughtry reached number one on the Billboard charts. Chris Daughtry is the third successful American Idol record-selling candidate, after Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood, both of which have won their respective seasons. At the 50th Grammy Awards, the band was nominated for Best Rock Song for the single "It's Not Over".
