Chris Hughes is an American businessman, co-founder and spokesperson for social networking and online directory Facebook, along with Harvard roommates Mark Zuckerberg, Dustin Moskovitz, Eduardo Saverin and Andrew McCollum. . He was the publisher and editor of The New Republic from 2012 to 2016. From 2019, Hughes was the co-chair of the Economic Security Project. In 2018, Hughes published Fair Shot: Rethinking Inequalities and How We Make Money. In May 2019, Hughes ran an article in the New York Times calling for "Farewell to Facebook" and government regulation of content on it, and in June of that year he criticized his decision. Facebook to launch Libra said the cryptocurrency "will turn power in the wrong hands if, at least, the coin succeeds modestly."
