About Chris Whitty

Epidemiologist who rose to prominence during his tenure as England's Chief Medical Officer and Chief Scientific Adviser (CSA), a position he began in October 2019. He was also the Department of Health and Social Care's Chief Scientific Adviser (CSA), and he was instrumental in the British government's reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He earned a BA in physiology and a Doctor of Science in medical science from the University of Oxford's Pembroke College. He went on to earn a number of further post-graduate degrees, including an LLM in medical law from Northumbria University in 2005.
