Christine Ellen Hynde is an American singer, songwriter and songwriter. She is a founding member and guitarist, lead singer and lead musician of the rock band Pretenders, and is the only permanent member of the group. Hynde founded Pretenders in 1978 with Pete Farndon, James Honeyman-Scott and Martin Chambers. She has also released several songs with other musicians including Frank Sinatra, Cher and UB40, and she released her solo album Stockholm in 2014. Hynde was introduced to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005 as a member of the Pretenders. She played Live Aid in 1985 .
