Charles Ellis Schumer is an American politician who has served as Senate Majority Leader since January 20, 2021. As a member of the Democratic Party, Schumer is a senior US Senator from New York, President he has held since 1999 . He is currently the head of the New York Congressional delegation. A native of Brooklyn and a graduate of Harvard University and Harvard Law School, Schumer served as a member of the New York State Parliament for three terms from 1975 to 1980. Schumer served in the United States House of Representatives. United from 1981 to 1999, for the first time represented The 16th Congressional District of New York before being limited to the 10th Congressional District in 1983 and the 9th Congressional District ten years later. In 1998, Schumer was elected US Senator after defeating the current three terms of the Republican Al D'Amato Party. Then, he was re-elected in 2004 with 71% of the votes, in 2010 with 66% of the votes and in 2016 with 70% of the votes.
