Olympic cyclist and speed skater who earned two bronze medals in the 1996 Summer Games and one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals in three Winter Games and was inducted into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame.

She had never imagined herself as an athlete as a child, having indulged in smoking, drinking, and drug use. She began speed skating at the age of 16 and switched to cycling in 1990.

She was one of just five persons to ever place in both the Winter and Summer Olympic games, and the only Canadian to do so, as of the 2010 Winter Events. She was also the only person to ever win multiple medals in both games.
