Dakota Louis Meyer is a retired American sailor. A veteran of the war in Afghanistan, he received the Medal of Honor for his actions at the Battle of Ganjgal on September 8, 2009, in Kunar province, Afghanistan. Meyer is the second young survivor to receive the Medal of Honor, the third survivor of the Iraq War or the War of Afghanistan, and the first living US Navy in 38 years to be so honored.
