Daniel Reed Crenshaw is an American politician and former US Navy SEAL officer serving as US Representative for the 2nd Congressional District of Texas since 2019. The district encompasses parts of northern and western Houston. He is a member of the Republican Party. Crenshaw was commissioned in the United States Navy and served in the 3rd SEAL Squadron during the war in Afghanistan, reaching the rank of lieutenant. He was injured during the third deployment, losing his right eye from an impromptu explosive device. He served as legislative assistant to Representative Pete Sessions and was elected to Congress in the 2018 midterm elections to succeed retiree Ted Poe.
