Daniel Jacob Henry Woodhead is a former American football player. He played college football at Chadron State and was signed to the New York Jets as an untrained independent player in 2008. He also played for the New England Patriots, San Diego Chargers and Baltimore Ravens. Woodhead set a number of early records for NCAA college football, including a one-season running record and an all-time running record. In 2006 and 2007, he won the Harlon Hill Trophy, awarded to the best player in the NCAA Division II, making him the third player to win the trophy twice in his history. On October 6, 2007, Woodhead became the NCAA's all-time leader in all departments. Woodhead held that record until it was defeated by the Mount Union running against Nate Kmic on December 13, 2008. With the Patriots, Woodhead made a single appearance at the Super Bowl in 2011. He finished a game with four catches in 42 yards and one touch of the ball while running. seven times in 18 yards, but the Patriots lost to the New York Giants 21-17.
