Darlene Wright, known by the stage name Darlene Love, is a famous American singer and musical actress. She is the lead vocalist of girl group The Blossoms and she also records as a solo artist. She began singing as a child with her local church choir. In 1962, she began recording with producer Phil Spector, who changed her name to Darlene Love. She sang the lead role on “He's a Rebel” and “He's Sure the Boy I Love,” credited to the Crystals. She quickly became a sought-after singer and worked with many 1960s rock and soul legends including Sam Cooke, Dionne Warwick, Bill Medley, Beach Boys, Elvis Presley, Tom Jones, Sonny and Cher. As an actress, Love has appeared in numerous Broadway plays. She reappeared as the wife of Roger Murtaugh in the Deadly Weapons series. Ranked among Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Singers, Love has been included in the 2011 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame .
